It's a strange world of language in which skating on thin ice can get you into hot water.
(Franklin P. Jones)
English has become a lingua franca: the language is commonly used as a means of
communication between two speakers whose native languages differ from one another.
It is estimated that by 2007 there were more non-native speakers of English than
those who speak it as a first language. As our world becomes more and more multicultural
the command of a world language such as English will become indispensable for those who
wish to communicate easily across nationalities, be they business people, academics or tourists.
There is no time like the present to improve your English!
